Half Helix is a small collaborative agency based in New York with offices worldwide specializing in e-commerce website research, design and development. I joined as Frontend Developer in February 2022. During my first few months I've had the pleasure of working on the following projects / tech stacks:
The first project I was brought onto after I started. This is a full headless rebuild of the site using Gatsby, Styled Components, Nacelle, Vercel and Shopify.
I currently lead the tech team in the post launch retainer efforts for this site in, built with Shopify 2.0. Our initiatives have included: post launch bug fixes, accessibility and site performance audits.
I assisted with ensuring widgets for various application integrations including Algolia for search and YotPo for product reviews were looking good and functioning as expected.

In January 2019 I began freelancing full time with Thinx Inc. Following a Series A round of fundraising in September 2019, I was brought on as a full time as Junior Front-End Engineer.
In late 2020 we began re-platforming our site from jQuery/Liquid to fully headless React. I was responsible for building responsive components and pages based on all new designs created by our in house UI/UX team.
I was the subject matter expert regarding our integration with Yotpo and as such I developed the UI for the site's reviews pages including a multi-step write a review form. Additionally, I coded accessible marketing emails templates, engineered A/B tests and mitigated accessibility tickets provided for us by A360.

In September thru December of 2018 I held the position of Intern Developer at Sanctuary Computer. I secured an interview for the job after cold DM-ing the company's founder, Hugh Francis, on Twitter. At Sanctuary, I assisted with developing the rebrand/relaunch of dameproducts.com. When that project wrapped, I developed several other projects including Sanctuary's own website and an e-commerce site selling a crewneck sweatshirt to raise funds and awareness for the Medicare for All movement. I contributed to the development of Basement, a ground floor CSS utility class library.
You made it. Thanks for stopping by. This is my online portfolio; my digital garden.
I believe everyone should have a website and this one is mine. This version of my site went live in early 2019 but I try to update the design and content periodically. This site was bootstrapped using create-react-app and consumes content via the Contentful JavaScript API. I use Redux to manage state and Styled Components for styles. I hope to post more detailed release notes with each new iteration in the future.
During my most recent refactor, I created a modest are.na channel for inspiration that I hope to continue adding to.

young and nauseous is my alter ego. It's a creative multimedia project emphasizing music, art and software. I officially launched the project in May 2021 with the release of three original songs, social media accounts and a website: youngandnauseo.us.
